NAJA extends program proposal deadline to May 31, 2020
NAJA will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and it is our hope to continue conference planning as usual. Leadership and staff will remain in communication with the NAJA Board of Directors to limit risks and if necessary, postpone the 2020 National Native Media Conference, if circumstances dictate such action for the safety and benefit of all attendees. In response, NAJA will accommodate flexible deadlines as needed.
The Native American Journalists Association invites all NAJA members and supporters to attend the annual National Native Media Conference Sept. 13-16, 2020 at the Hyatt Regency in Phoenix, Arizona.
In partnership with the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, NAJA will facilitate conference program sessions about best practices in Indigenous media through training and workshops to support and enhance the knowledge and skills of journalists covering Indian Country.
A block of hotel rooms at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix has been reserved for Sept. 13-17, 2020 for the 2020 National Native Media Conference. Attendees can reserve a room for the discounted rate of $199 per night with the direct link through Aug. 20.
Indigenous journalists will lead the majority of sessions, which are aimed at developing skills and sharing new insights for Indigenous media.
To submit a program proposal or session idea, please complete the 2020 conference session proposal form below by May 31, 2020.
NAJA will recognize outstanding coverage of Indian Country during the 2020 NAJA National Native Media Awards. The annual competition recognizes excellence in reporting by Indigenous and non-Indigenous journalists across Turtle Island.
This year, entries to the 2020 National Native Media Awards will be submitted using the BetterBNC Media Awards Platform. BetterBNC will manage all entries and judging.
