The Magazine, News & Digital Journalism Department invites applications for an experienced magazine journalist to teach students in the journalism program. The successful candidate will have recent national magazine experience as either a writer or editor for digital and print environments and possess ability with digital platforms and tools.
The tenure-track position values and prioritizes teaching. Undergraduate and graduate courses focus on gathering, producing, and distributing content for an audience across platforms. The curriculum ranges from basic reporting, writing, and editing to in-depth reporting projects and incorporates all elements of storytelling, including audio, video, social-media tools, and audience engagement. In addition to teaching, tenure-track hires are expected to pursue creative and/or scholarly activities that position them as a well-known expert or authority in the field and bring national visibility to Newhouse. They also must conduct service on behalf of the department and school by advising students, assisting with speaker series and immersive reporting projects, and organizing industry field trips/outreach. The start date is fall 2020.
