COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, Lemelson-MIT Program (LMIT), to develop and implement strategic marketing and communications campaigns that generate interest, engagement, and support for LMIT program initiatives. Responsibilities include developing annual communications goals and strategic plan, coordinating year-round communications activities with key constituencies, maintaining publication schedule, developing key messaging, and editing and ensuring consistency across all communications efforts; serving as main contact/liaison with MIT News Office and responding to press inquiries; developing annual marketing goals/strategies and developing/managing mailing lists and email and direct mail marketing efforts; developing annual fund-raising communications plan, drafting compelling solicitation messaging and documents, and managing email and direct mail efforts and related lists for fund-raising communications; measuring, monitoring, and reporting on the impact of communications and marketing campaigns and fund-raising communications; collaborating on community engagement and outreach efforts, generating outreach materials for LMIT InvenTeam and Pathways to Invention community engagement efforts, overseeing compilation of contacts for key stakeholders in local communities, and providing social media and presentation training to LMIT programs; developing integrated communications resources to support the program and its communications and marketing goals; supervising and directing communications coordinator and contractors; managing budgets; LMIT website management; creating/managing brand guidelines and nomenclature; and performing other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED: B.A./B.S. in communications, English, marketing, or related field; at least four years’ marketing and public relations experience, preferably in an education-related nonprofit or educational institution; demonstrated writing, editing, planning, and time-management skills; experience managing social media and email campaigns, creating web content, and managing websites; and ability to focus on competing priorities simultaneously and to work independently and collaboratively. PREFERRED: M.A./M.S. and knowledge of HTML.
