KUNR Public Radio in Reno, Nevada seeks a Content Director and Morning Edition Host for our innovative award-winning operation serving Northern Nevada and the Eastern Sierra.
KUNR’s dynamic journalism has been recognized with a series of national honors in recent years: Edward R. Murrow Awards in 2018 and 2019 for reporting and for innovation, PMJA awards for best collaborative effort in 2018 and 2019, and numerous AP awards for several years. We are part of the Mountain West News Bureau, provide Spanish-language content through our Noticiero Móvil bilingual news service, host a Report for America journalist, and run a robust college internship program. Our sister station, KNCJ, offers classical music and jazz.
The Content Director/Morning Edition Host performs two vital functions. Our new colleague will collaborate with KUNR’s News Director to oversee all creative content. This includes responsibility for KUNR’s overall broadcast sound, supervising all on-air hosts, evaluating broadcast programming, and helping to ensure KUNR’s digital content is engaging and inclusive. The position also includes hosting KUNR’s Morning Edition program (live Monday-Friday, 5 to 9 a.m.), producing live local newscasts, and reading underwriting messaging and station promotions.
The Content Director/Morning Edition Host reports to KUNR’s Assistant Station Manager. KUNR is licensed to the University of Nevada, Reno and is based in the university’s Reynolds School of Journalism. The position requires relevant professional experience in broadcast and digital journalism. Fluency in Spanish is a valued skill for this role.
