Digital Enterprise Producer

The Santa Fe New Mexican (Santa Fe, New Mexico)

Posted 2 weeks ago

The Digital Enterprise Team at The Santa Fe New Mexican seeks a katana-sharp, digital-first person to join one of the best small-market newsrooms anywhere.

As Digital Enterprise Producer you’ll play a leadership role in maintaining and growing the operation’s reputation under the tutelage of the Digital Enterprise Editor. This isn’t a position for someone who just wants to be a Posting Monkey or play on Facebook. You’re going to work hard while bringing your own sense of creative exuberance to digital journalism on all platforms. You’ll help plan, lead and execute multiplatform, digital projects, keep the trains running on time and help develop the audience with the help of a talented crew.

Members of the Digital Enterprise Team are expected to produce content through a variety of media, including text, social-media, photography and video. This is the kind of role for someone who knows how to think big and get results in a team environment — not lone wolves.

While you’ll be called on to head out to the field to produce stories, video, and photography for the website and newspaper, you’ll be the primary in-office producer supporting the team. That might mean performing data-analysis and visualizing that data for use online and print, cutting together a video feature shot by a photographer or designing a compelling homepage to highlight The New Mexican’s watchdog and feature journalism.

Your best asset is you. While there are plenty of technical skills you’ll bring, we expect you to be a quick learner and rise to the challenges that pop up in the ever-changing digital-publishing world. The ideal candidate thrives on keeping up to date on emerging trends and techniques while learning how to filter out the signal of innovation from the noise of fads. An ideal candidate should bring a community-center mindset that can be channeled into social-media initiatives.

How to Apply
If this sounds like you, reach out with a résumé, work samples and multimedia links. Including a cover letter. Ditch the clichés and spend your time talking about your vision for local digital news and your role in that vision. If you want to reach out directly, write Digital Enterprise Editor Henry M. Lopez at hlopez@sfnewmexican.com, @henrymlopez or 505-986-3054.
